Road to Series A

High level overview of is needed for us to raise a successful Series A

We want to be in a place where by March of 2024, or even end of year 2023 we can raise a Series A.

The following are high level buckets we need:

  1. Revenue

  2. Open Source Community Momentum

  3. Quality of Design Partners/Customers and Use Cases

  4. Market (how big can this be, similar to seed pitches)

In detail:

  1. Analysis of open source based companies, most had very low revenue, and some that did had < 1MM ARR, we should be aiming for 500k ARR at minimum to cover base burn rate regardless.

  2. Usage metrics

    1. median github star value of 4980,

    2. contributors should be around 50 (we imagine rest api client will have more contributors than api references but less stars than api references)

    3. slack/discord, we should aim for quite an active community! 1500 seems great.

    4. downloads/user growth is important here

  3. Let’s get some amazing customers!

  4. We’ve talked about this in seed

Overall the sweet spot for series A isn’t just hitting these numbers but also Month/Month growth of 10% but user growth seemingly higher 20-30%

Before our weekly sync Cameron and I will go over if the things we have planned are in fact hitting one of these things:

  1. Revenue

  2. Open Source growth

  3. Community Growth

  4. Customer Retention in the form of upkeep

We need to have monitoring in place to track all of these things so our changes and efforts can be correlated to the growth of these 4 points.
